Helen Troup, ING Australia’s high profile Executive Director of Life Risk, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of ING New Zealand.
Helen Troup has successfully led ING Australia’s life risk business as Executive Director since 2004, achieving significant growth in revenue, profit and market share during that period. Prior to her current appointment she held senior roles with ING Australia in product development, sales and marketing. She joined ING in 2001. Under her leadership ING Life Risk has achieved significant revenue and profit growth every year since 2004, and ING Australia's market share has grown across all segments, with retail sales increasing from sixth to No.1 in the past two years.
Announcing the appointment, Paul Bedbrook, Regional CEO of ING Asia Pacific said: “In the past four years Helen and her team successfully launched the market leading OneCare product, and significantly improved Life Risk's customer service offering, culminating in Group Risk being voted No.1 for service in 2007 by NMG.
“Helen has also been instrumental in successfully implementing Life Risk's major new technology platform which has delivered new enhancements to OneCare to assist advisers.
“Her proven ability to achieve strong profit and growth results over the past four years is underlined by the fact that ING Australia’s in force premium market share in retail sales risk has increased from No. 6 to No.1 under her stewardship.
“The combination of Helen’s skills and leadership, together with the knowledge and experience of the local management team in New Zealand, are a powerful formula to lead ING NZ through its next growth phase.”
Ms Troup will commence in her new role with ING New Zealand on July 11. She replaces outgoing CEO Marc Lieberman. She is the first Australian to be appointed CEO of ING New Zealand, which is a joint venture between ING Group and the ANZ Bank. ING and ANZ operate under a similar joint venture arrangement in Australia. Ms Troup has a Bachelor of Economics majoring in actuarial studies from Macquarie University. She spent her early career in the actuarial field before moving into product management and then general management roles.
